Thomas Schleiken has a gravelly voice that can deliver the blues. There is also a guest harmonica on four of the songs that leads you straight into the blues. But the guitar style is NOT a bottleneck creating searing, echoey acoustic runs, but instead a classic folk finger style technique. This record reminds a lot of someone like Stephan Grossman who has made a career out of using both blues and folk techniques.
