Samantha Gray is an artist, singer and songwriter who began her musical journey at an early age while growing up in southeast Michigan, first as a band student and later joining the choir. As an art student in college, Samantha took more of an interest in singing and performing. She realized she wanted to be a performer while singing on stage with roots rockers, The Bystanders, one Saturday night. After obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee, Samantha moved to Nashville to pursue music. Her strong, unique voice is best described as soulful, and sultry. Samantha has sung backup for alt country band The Old Flames and jump blues/swing band Jive Deluxe. She also fronted her own band, The Detroit Specials. The band only lasted a short time, but it did allow her to grow as a songwriter.
Influenced by Classic R&B, Soul, Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll, she combines all of these influences into her own brand of roots music. This music is reminiscent of classic styles and sounds with a fresh and modern approach.
