Claire Tomlinson was born and raised in New York's upper Westside.

Listening to 1940s radio, she reveled in black gospel music and country music and later experienced the blending of these musical strains in the explosion of rock and roll.

In the late 1950s discovering the Harry Smith blues and folk collection was an epiphany revealing the roots and sources of the music she had been listening to for so long.

She immersed herself in the sounds of these obscure and profoundly original singers: Robert Johnson, Skip James, Blind Lemon Jefferson, John Estes, Henry Thomas, John Hurt, Doc Watson, and Clarence Ashley, to name a few.

They pointed the way to other singers, men and women, black and white, whose recordings surfaced and greatly influenced musicians of the 60s and 70s.

Claire first sang and played piano as a child. taking up guitar, she began to play the blues and studied with Dave Van Ronk.

Many years later while living in St. Louis, she returned to the piano, working and studying with venerable blues man Henry Townsend.

"The voice that comes out of this little lady takes you by surprise. She's small, but her sound isn't. Claire mixes up black and white sounds in a way that makes her music sound familiar, but original. She puts her own mark on it."
- Henry Townsend

"Gritty piano blues from a woman's point of view by an appealing new artist."

Wendy has appeared with Charlie Musselwhite, Otis Rush, Jimmy Thackery and Mavis Staples. She headed to Boston with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters for a performance at the Boston Symphony Hall and played one of her last concerts wit the original Queen of the Boogie Hadda Brooks, who not only congratulated Wendy’s left hand delivery, but also blessed her as a Queen of Boogie Woogie with a mission to keep the tradition alive.

Hank Ballard, author of The Twist and Look at Little Sister and with whom Wendy toured for five years named Wendy his favorite piano player. Hank’s roots were in the blues and he was also a big fan of Delmark recording artist Steve Freund, with whom Wendy worked for 10 years touring and appearing on one of his Delmark releases C for Chicago. Steve returned the favor by producing two of Wendy’s CD’s.

Born and Raised in a small town called Black Hawk in
Carrol County Mississippi (highway 17 near Lexington),
Eugene was the youngest of four brothers and one sister, children of Jesse and Luella Fluker (sharecroppers), deceased in 1957 and 1963. "After working in the fields, at age 13, I saved enough money to go to Greenwood and bought my first box Guitar for $13.95. My cousin John Thurmond (Jagould) taught me a lot. Inspired by blues musicians such as Lightening Hopkins and John Lee Hooker, I always wanted to play and sing the blues".

Eugene was 18 when he came to St Louis and began to play on the bandstand with Ace Wallace, Henry Williams and others noted musicians in St Louis and East St Louis. He continued to play in the metropolitian area until after he met his wife Mattie and began to riase a family which consisted of 4-daughters Avis, Gina, Carmen, and Deloris, a family of six.

After a considerable absence from the music world, Eugene came back, not only performing throughout the St Louis area but recorded a group-CD (Not Over The Hill Yet) with such personalities as Willie Richardson, Johnny Jones and Willie (Green) Allen.

Lucille: Eugene, I know that you already have a Guitar, so why purchase another one named Lucille. "This Guitar was designed by B B King and list for $3,600. I purchased it because you can get just about any sound that you want out of it, including stereo. It also has a cord the allows you to change sound and tone quality. You can even sound like B B King if you have the talent". The picture to the left that we are looking at here is really laid-out, a beautiful guitar and case.

The picture at the top of the page is the Bluesfield Blues Band, the group that Eugene is playing with now.

Eugene's newly released nine-song CD, Carrol County Mississippi has a picture of himself on the front cover and a picture of his grandson, Michael who plays bass guitar, on the back cover.

This is the same, remarkable music which earned Clay both global media recognition & raving hoards of near-rabid fans who now eagerly gobble up each & every available recording unearthed from Clay's pleasure chest of archived tracks.
